Mobile devices across Texas received notification on Thursday night about an 11-year-old girl whom authorities believe was abducted in Livingston.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Audrii Cunningham was last seen at about 7 a.m. on Feb. 15 in the 100 block of Lakeside Drive in Polk County.

Texas DPS didn't provide information about who may have taken Audrii.

Audrii is a white female with blond hair and blue eyes. She weighs 75 pounds and is 4-foot-1-inch tall.

Authorities said a person of interest in the disappearance of 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham was arrested Friday on an unrelated charge.

At a press conference Saturday, Lt. Craig Cummings with the Texas Department of Public Safety said Don Steven McDougal, 42, was arrested Friday on an unrelated aggravated assault charge. Cummings said McDougal is a person of interest in Audrii’s disappearance.
Cummings said investigators searched several locations overnight, but did not find Audrii.
Cummings said based on the evidence they currently have, they believe foul play may be a factor in Audrii’s disappearance.

Don Steven McDougal, 42, a person of interest in Audrii's disappearance, has been cooperating to some extent with investigators, according to Polk County officials.

However, authorities emphasize that they are covering all angles and exploring other potential suspects. McDougal admitted to authorities to leaving the house with Audrii on the day she went missing.
Officials say McDougal was a friend of Audrii's father and was allowed to live in a trailer behind their house and also take her to school from time to time.

McDougal's cooperation has led investigators to certain locations during the time of Audrii's disappearance. TxDPS officials say details remain undisclosed to the public to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

Here is what little info is being released from link - Sadly I thought this was going to be the outcome.

The body of 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham has been found, and charges are expected against a suspect, who lived just behind her home, in connection with her disappearance.
On Tuesday, authorities announced an area where search efforts were being made for Audrii was declared a crime scene. Shortly after, officials confirmed her body had been located.

According to Texas DPS Lt. Craig Cummings, the crime scene included an area around US-59 and the Trinity River Bridge.
During an afternoon press conference, officials said they had the Trinity River Authority lower water levels to find the girl's body.

Officials did not share the condition of Audrii's body, which was taken to the medical examiner's office.

I am sure the father is distraught and dying inside that he allowed this friend access to his child.

This needs to be a reminder that even those you consider friends or even sometimes family should be allowed contact with your children when you are not around.

Audrii Cunningham’s body was found tied to ‘large rock’ with rope linked to family friend now charged with 11-year-old’s murder

Missing 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham was found underwater tied to a large rock — with a rope similar to one found in the suspect’s car, authorities said in support of capital murder charges filed Wednesday.

The Texas girl’s body was found Tuesday by a dive team searching the Trinity River in a rural area north of Houston, five days after she was last seen Thursday with Don McDougal, 42, a family friend who lived in their camper, according to charging documents shared by KPRC 2.

Once pulled out, cops found “a large rock tied to the child victim’s body,” the docs said.

“The rope used was consistent with rope that was observed in McDougal’s vehicle on a traffic stop two days prior,” the document noted of the suspect held on separate charges.

Previous child victim of Audri Cunningham’s alleged killer tearfully details attack: ‘It could have been me’

A woman who was assaulted as a child by 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham‘s alleged killer has spoken out about her own nightmare ordeal – breaking down in tears as she realized how close she could have been to facing the same fate as the slain girl.

Carissa Davis, now in her 20s, was 10 years old in March 2007 when Don McDougal assaulted her during a family gathering at her uncle’s house in Brazoria County, Texas, ABC 13 reported.

McDougal’s sisters were friends of her family and brought him along, she told the outlet.

From an article linked previously:

"McDougal has a long criminal record with more than a dozen convictions, including attempted indecency with a child and enticing a child."

Having neo-Nazi tattoos certainly isn't indicative of being a child predator, but a criminal conviction and two year prison sentence for attempted indecency with a child really, REALLY is.

But...(from the article above)

"“I think Brazoria County definitely failed me and failed Audrii and possibly more,” she told ABC 13, noting that he wasn’t required to register as a sex offender."

...he wasn't on the registry.

The Polk County grand jury has indicted Don Steven McDougal, 42, on two counts of capital murder in the death 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham.

Her body was found February 20 in the Trinity River near the US Highway 59 bridge following a search after she was reported missing. Investigators say he used a rope to tie a large rock to her body in order to make it sink.

An autopsy shows Audrii died from homicidal violence including blunt force trauma to her head.
The District Attorney hasn't said if she'll seek the death penalty.
