According to court documents, 29-year-old Andrew Hsu was formally charged with bestiality and torturing an animal after police were made aware of allegations involving him in February of this year.

Investigators say that Hsu allegedly tied the 27-pound dog, named Zorro, to a tree in January 2023 after becoming frustrated with it for its incontinence issues. Court documents continue to say that someone who knew Hsu then brought the dog inside to warm up slowly, and later took it to two separate veterinary clinics for treatment.

Vet records logged on Feb. 1, 2023, show that the dog, an Australian Cattle Dog-Blue Heeler, was experiencing bleeding in relation to the incontinence, despite the dog not having a history of medication treatment.
A video was sent as a link to the individual who knew Hsu on a dating app, before the witness turned the evidence over to Mishawaka police via a USB drive on March 21, 2024. Authorities then reviewed the video, which depicts Hsu allegedly sexually abusing the dog inside his apartment, and gave the video to the department’s Cyber Crimes Unit to analyze.

A few days later, detectives with the Cyber Crimes Unit determined the video was not made with artificial intelligence or what’s known as a “deepfake,” which is a video of a person where their face or body has been digitally altered so that they appear to be someone else, which are typically made to spread false information.
Zorro is safe and is living in another state.
